Mother's hope dashed, residents take extreme precautions

HIS MOTHER searched relentlessly for almost two months, hoping to find her missing son.

But Madam Hu Ping Zhu's hopes were dashed yesterday when the badly decomposed lower half of a body - believed to be her son Mr Lin Xiao - was discovered at Bedok Reservoir.

While PUB confirmed that the water is safe for consumption, at least one family is taking extreme safety precautions.

For the next month, housewife Ramesh Hemalatha will be giving her young children bottled water to drink. And to be extra safe, this bottled water will be boiled.
