What should have been a simple act of courtesy took a nasty turn after a middle-aged woman, who claimed to have a leg injury, berated a young woman (above), who gave up a train seat for her.
She gave the impression that she was entitled to the seat and said it was only right for the younger woman, who looked to be in her 20s, to give up the seat to her.
She also accused the younger woman of staring at her after apparently grudgingly giving up her seat.
The incident on an East-West Line train that was heading towards Pasir Ris on Monday at about 6.30pm was captured on video by Mr Muhammad Khair, 21, a student, on his mobile phone camera.
Netizens have slammed the older woman (below) for being unreasonable.

Anyone for that matter, if you are young & able-bodied, please give up your seats automatically & willingly to older people to uncles & aunties from the age group 60 onwards. Some of them may appear alright on the surface, but actually their limbs are starting to weaken.
In this incident, I think the aunty is frustrated that none of the younger than her passengers bother to offer her a seat, and this young lady was perhaps the unlucky one that the aunty picked on her.
The old lady must be having
The old lady must be having her menopause!
Pity any guys having this kind of mother-in-laws!
So, guys out there .... you wanna court the daughters, make very sure that this old lady isn't her mother. Or else, you will sooner than later having the same idiotic treatment as the old b_tch have throwned at this young lady.
A pathetic old b_tch on MRT!
Whats wrong with the specky
Whats wrong with the specky sitting beside the old lady ??
Don't he have the guts to tell the old lady off ??
This old aunty indeed behaves
This old aunty indeed behaves very badly after getting the seat, but she is only the minority. Let us not use this incident to label all old people to be undeserving of seats. Most old people have weaker legs than young people, so do need the seats. Let us take this incident as an exception, and not give up offering our seats to old people who genuinely need it. Yes, there is a lot of anger and angst about this incident, but let us think rationally, and not over react by labeling all old people to be problematic and stop giving up seats to them. Only when we ourselves are old, will we realize how mush that one seat , even for a while, means to us.
Maybe Bryan is correct,she
Maybe Bryan is correct, she might not get a seat in Malaysia. But, the people with this kind of attitude only can be seen in 1 place.you should know what I meant. She is a particular "Singaporean"..........
