Parents who drink in front of their children are sending a message to them that drinking is acceptable.
And some may unwittingly become the supplier of alcohol for their teens.
Two teens TNP spoke to said parents, not necessarily their own, were suppliers of alcohol.
Psychiatrists The New Paper spoke to has seen more young people below 21 binge drinking and more are coming forward for help, especially women in that age group.
And a recent study by Institute of Mental Health showed that those aged 18 to 34 are twice as likely to drink excessively and binge drink than the general population.
