TWO months ago, SMRT CEO Saw Phaik Hwa sat on a sedan chair carried by eight bare-bodied men in a performance at her company’s dinner and dance.

When the pictures were posted on-line in October, four days after the event, it did not make waves. 

But after the series of SMRT breakdowns, the pictures, which went viral on Monday, have become a lightning rod for online criticism.
