COULD climate change be responsible for the floods Singapore has experienced recently?

Although experts told The New Paper that it is premature to point the finger at global warming, they do agree that rainfall patterns over the past 10 years indicate that thunderstorms have been increasing in intensity.

This would mean that Singapore would have to rethink its drainage system to cope with added pressure during such spells, said Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan.
