In a forested pocket off Yishun Avenue 1, a small community of vegetable growers have been discreetly tending to their vegetable plots which sprouted up over the past decade.
Now, even this attempt at replicating kampung life will be no more.
These vegetable growers will have to tear down their shacks and let nature run its course over their vegetable patches, as the area is sitting on state land in the charge of the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and its appointed agent, the Housing Development Board (HDB) which manages the land.
The HDB has issued notices for the unauthorised structures to be vacated.
