Not Guilty

John Terry has been cleared of racial abuse against Ferdinand, but Your English Kaki, Iain Macintosh, says that the verdict was expected and that the case shouldn't have dragged on for so long.

The incident happened nearly a year ago and the law should not have to stand idly by, tapping its feet until the end of the football season - No club should be able to request a delay to justice and nor should they.

If football learns anything from this, it must be that the longer these affairs continue to fester in public, the more grievous the damage done to the game - Ferdinand has had to put up with threats of physical violence and death, Terry’s reputation has been irreparably damaged and English football has been dragged through the mud in front of the world.

But, it has been a fitting end, an ugly one nonetheless, to an ugly year.
