The Not In My Backyard syndrome is back. This time, it is Blocks 10 and 11 in Jalan Batu in the Tanjong Rhu area, where some residents are unhappy about plans to have facilities for the elderly at the void decks of their blocks.

On Sunday, a petition (below) requesting that the centres be shifted elsewhere was submitted to Member of Parliament for Mountbatten SMC, Mr Lim Biow Chuan.

One of those behind the petition, who wanted to be known only as Mr Foo, 44, said that the request was not for the centres to be built far away - just not in the void decks.

"We don’t want to deprive our kids of a place to play,” he said.

Comments

aren't kids playing at the void deck worse then an elderly corner? It's so noisy.

if smth has to be done for the elderly, it has to be built. you also want your parents to have somewhere to relax, not just your kids. kids can always play at the playground -.-
