They're young, connected and ready to campaign for issues at the touch of the button.
But not all are serious activists. Many are ready to swear their commitment, but when the day comes to turn online chatter into an offline slog, they go missing.
There’s a term for this inaction – slacktivism.
Polytechnic student and slacktivist “Andrea” said: “Online activism is meaningful and I like the idea of increasing awareness of a cause, but I don’t think I will really participate physically.
“It’s not really as serious online as compared to say, taking it to the streets.... one can sometimes get into trouble and face serious consequences for their physical actions.”
