After spending 158 days folding thousands of pieces of paper into unique origami shapes, he burns them.

The occasion: A Taoist festival to celebrate Lord Cheng Huang’s birthday.

Devout Taoist Kwek Seng Yew, 27, also made a 2m-tall pagoda that is now on display at the Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple near Arumugam Road, off Paya Lebar Road.

Mr Kwek said he intends to get an entry into the Singapore Book of Records for the “Biggest Incense Paper Sculptures” with his pagoda.
