SilkAir pilot Ajmer Singh Ajit Singh, 46, was convicted yesterday of one count of voluntarily causing hurt for punching a former neighbour in 2010.

He was fined $1,000, but said that although he can afford the fine, he has decided to file an appeal to clear his name.

He said he has already spent nearly $50,000 in legal fees.
