Police arrest five after fight at Costa Sands Resort

March 16, 2012 - 1:14am

A birthday celebration went awry when a pre-dawn fight broke out yesterday between a national serviceman, his friend and a group of young men from another unit at Pasir Ris Costa Sands Resort.

Mr Shafiq Amat and his friend, known only as Zulkifli, allegedly got into a scuffle with a group of youngsters at the resort following a staring incident.

As a result, an 18-year-old boy suffered facial injuries and had to be sent to Changi General Hospital.

Police said a national serviceman and his friend, both 20 years old, were arrested at the resort yesterday morning. Another three more people - two 15-year-old boys and a 22-year-old man - were rounded up in the evening of the same day.

All five will be charged with rioting in court today.
