For diploma students on the cusp of entering the workforce, what better way to get ready for the real world than to plunge boldly into it.

Five final-year students from Republic Polytechnic’s School of Technology for the Arts have done just that. They are organising the inaugural Lenovo DJ Challenge, a nationwide search for local budding DJ talents, and they have certainly gone way beyond the material that is taught in their classrooms.

Their work included setting the contest rules and regulations, inviting bigwigs of the regional clubbing scene to sit on its judging panel, and drumming up publicity for the event proper.
