Manchester United’s title hopes rested on a wing and a prayer.
Now, they need an outright miracle. Not even a 2-0 win over Swansea yesterday could tilt the race back in their favour.
Assuming both Manchester clubs, currently level on points, win their respective final matches, the league title will be decided on goal difference. United’s score on that count stands at 55, City’s at 63.
So, United fans must now pray for City to falter against Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, and hope that their team can better City’s result. The Red Devils play their last game of the season against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
