Prof in sex-for-grades case won't leave Singapore for now

THE law lecturer allegedly involved in a sex-for-grades scandal will not be leaving Singapore after all.

In a district court yesterday, Tey Tsun Hang’s lawyer, Mr Peter Cuthbert Low, withdrew his client’s application to leave the jurisdiction.

Tey had originally intended to travel to Hong Kong during his sabbatical to teach.

But after his case came up, he was informed by NUS that he has been suspended and it will not approve his sabbatical or “leave for academic or other purposes”.

Tey, 41, who is an associate professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is accused of six counts of corruption.

He had allegedly obtained gifts and sexual favours in exchange for favouring a law student, Miss Darinne Ko Wen Hui, 23, in his assessment of her academic performance.
