Public men who cry publicly.

Retiring minister was the talking point of the week when he unexpectedly became emotional when responding to a question at a press conference to introduce three new PAP candidates.

Other public men who’ve shed tears and were watched by thousands, if not millions, include Mr Lee Kuan Yew who cried at the separation of Singapore and Malaysia in 1965.

More recently Japanese president Naoto Kan cried at a televised press conference following the Japan earthquake and tsunami.
