RI helps cancer-struck teacher

HE was struck with cancer twice in the span of less than two years.

In some places, he could have been asked to leave to take care of his health.

But so valued by Raffles Institution (RI) was teacher Lam Nam Soon, 51, that he was asked to stay. He also had his work re-scoped, with full benefits and without a pay cut.

For this and other efforts, RI will be given the AARP Best Employers for Workers over 50 Award-International today, said the school spokesman.
