Road sinks, causing massive traffic jam

Peak-hour traffic slowed to a snarl on Bukit Timah Road, towards Stevens Road, on Monday evening, when a section of the road sank in.

The depression caused two lanes to be closed to traffic, leaving only one available lane. As a result, there was a massive traffic jam that lasted several hours.

A Land Transport Authority spokesman said the incident was localised, but could not confirm the depth of the depression.
