Roping in foreigners to fight crime

About 110,000 foreign workers live in about 240 dormitories in the areas under Jurong Police Division.

The division’s commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Florence Chua, 47, said it has the highest number of foreign workers of all the police land divisions.

Hence the new initiative known as Project Fort (Foreign Workers and Residents On Patrol Team) that will be launched next month, AC Chua said.

Besides tackling crime, the project will also work towards helping locals and foreign workers bond as they patrol estates together.
