FLASHBACK: THE NEW PAPER ON TUESDAY

The assistant treasurer of the Singapore Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (SBBF) resigned yesterday, citing "recent scandals" and "unethical practices" as his reasons for leaving.

Techna Miti Nadesan, known as James Murthy in the industry, sent a resignation letter to SBBF president Rano Izhar yesterday, questioning the federation's accounting practices.

Rano, who has made the headlines the last two days after he admitted to teaching a fellow athlete how to use steroids, told The New Paper he accepted Techna's resignation and also clarified some of the monetary claims made by Techna.

Meanwhile, the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), which has the power to de-affiliate the SBBF, will seek clarification from the national sports association before any action is taken, if at all.

More in The New Paper on Thursday (July 19).
