SEA Games wrap-up: Satisfactory, at best

CALMLY, he rattled off the statistics of Singapore's showing at this year's South-east Asia (SEA) Games and compared it to that in 2009.

Five minutes into the media debrief yesterday, chef de mission Dr Tan Eng Liang dropped the bombshell.

Of Singapore's overall performance in Indonesia, he said: "As the CDM, if the question is if we had done well, then I am sorry to say that it is, at best, satisfactory."

While Singapore have conjured up a total of 42 gold medals, just one shy of their best "away" showing at the 2007 Games in Korat, Dr Tan pointed out that some sports had not improved on their medal tally from the last Games.
