They operate in secret, hiding from the law and those who plan to rob them. These are the money couriers, who move thousands of dollars daily for remittance collectors and money changers.
On Monday, three businessmen, believed to be in the business of buying and selling goods, were robbed of nearly a million dollars in a shophouse in Little India.
An editor of a Bengali newspaper said that such remittance collectors, or money couriers, are easy victims as they carry a lot of cash with them.
He added: “Their operations are very secretive. Often, they surround themselves with their own relatives when transporting money."
