She wants to be prettier than the guys

IT'S hard being the only girl in a rock band.

Especially when your fellow members, with their long hair and thick make-up, are guys who look like girls.

And even more so if you're part of a Japanese visual kei (visual style) group, which traditionally comprises only men.

Bassist and main composer Rio (above, second from left), the sole female member of J-rock group Secilia Luna, told The New Paper in an e-mail interview: "Of course I want to be prettier than the other members! I will not lose out to them!"
