Shopping trip helps her become first female Big Picture winner

Miss Eileen Tan was shopping when she chanced upon a scene of two shops at Dawson Place shopping centre with contrasting fortunes.

In one unit, a barber waits for a customer; next door, a clothing shop is bustling with customers.

To her, it aptly captured the harsh realities of the retail industry.

But she had no camera on hand, so she made do with her phone's camera and won the top prize for this week’s Big Picture contest based on the theme “Shopping Nation”.

Miss Tan is the contest's first female winner.
