When his daughter took part in the Singapore Youth Festival dancing competition for the first time in March, Mr Andrew Bi went along to support her.

While watching the Nanyang Primary School’s performance, the 47-year-old, who works in the IT line, snapped a photo of a girl emerging from a sea of pink and white fans.

Mr Bi, a seasoned photo enthusiast, said: “When the girl showed her smiling face from the jungle of fans, I told myself that it was the moment I am waiting for.”

That shot won Mr Bi $500. It was unanimously chosen by the judges of this week’s The Big Picture contest, which had the theme “A City of the Arts”.
