GAMESMANSHIP or a lack of space? That is the question being asked after some South-Zone B Division football matches were played at Queensway Secondary School last month.
The reason for the question was the unusually small pitch the matches were played on.
How small was it? The touchline was located a metre from the edge of the penalty box. Lengthwise, drop kicks from the goalkeepers needed only one bounce to reach the opposing goalmouth.
The size has drawn ire from coaches, teachers and even parents of the players, with a coach complaining that the pitch was unsuitable for the 11-a-side games.
