SMRT says it spared no efforts in its investigations related to a posting on citizen journalism website Stomp that turned out to be false.
The posting had included a picture that supposedly showed an MRT train running with one of its doors open.
SMRT’s executive director and chief executive officer, Mr Tan Ek Kia, gave details of the investigation in a letter on Thursday, addressed to Mr Patrick Daniel, the editor-in-chief of the English and Malay Newspaper Division of Singapore Press Holdings.
SMRT explained that its engineers spent the night checking its fleet of trains, but found nothing to suggest this incident could have happened.
Mr Daniel had apologised to SMRT earlier and affirmed that the incident as alleged in the Stomp post did not take place.
