Spider-Man villain 'is not pure evil': Actor

Every Spider-Man flick needs a Spider-villain, and so The Amazing Spider-Man had to have a baddie that was, well, more amazing than the rest who had come before.

Enter Dr Curt Connors (played by Welsh actor Rhys Ifans), a one-armed scientist consumed by the desire to repair his body who finds himself transforming into a monster known as The Lizard.

Said Ifans of his character: "He’s certainly not pure evil. I think he’s so impassioned and eager and hungry that he leaps over a couple of necessary ethical steps that science requires to achieve a great goal. But in leaping or missing those steps, it becomes clumsy and too immediate a change."
