Strangers save wheelchair-bound woman & her pets from fire

TWO strangers rescued wheelchair-bound Angela Rukumani, 65, and her pets after fire broke out in her HDB block yesterday.

The fire started in a unit above her first storey flat at Block 68, Lorong 5 Toa Payoh.

The two men were alerted when Madam Rukumani's friend, who was visiting her at the time, shouted for help.

One of them carried Madam Rukumani out while the other picked up her wheelchair.

Her friend picked up the animals and ran out to safety.
