Student nabbed in school for drug abuse

September 20, 2012 - 1:21am

A 16-year-old student from a top secondary school here has been arrested on suspicion of drug abuse.

The talk in school was that he had been abusing cannabis and methamphetamine, better known on the street as ganja and ice.

The student has been released on bail, pending investigations by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

The CNB confirmed on Monday that its officers picked up the student in the school last week.

The arrest comes amid growing concern over drug usage by young people here. CNB figures show a rise in the number of drug abusers under 21 years old arrested over the past three years.

Send him to jail.
