Swapping runner tags not uncommon but can flaw race

MORE can be done to avoid invalid winners in future races.

That is the verdict from an expert, official and runner.

Mr Frankie Lee, Chief of Events & Marketing at Singapore Athletic Association, said The Sundown Marathon was flawed because of tag swapping between runners - while its organiser Mr Benjamin Wee insisted that it is impossible detect it.

The eventual winner of the race - Mr Kumar Avel Thangavel - said the Sundown event was the first time he witnessed a winner being disqualified for it.
