"Swat" team turn out to be groomsmen

The six "armed" men at the 12th-storey lift lobby of Block 613B, Bedok Reservoir Road, looked menacing in their combat outfits, their faces covered with ski masks and sunglasses.

On their vests was the word SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics). But they weren’t part of an elite Swat unit on a mission – they were groomsmen there to escort the groom to the bride’s home.

The groom, Mr Ye Weike (above), 35, had decided to give the Chinese wedding tradition a twist when he went to pick up his bride, Miss Wu Jiemin, 32, on Friday morning (Aug 10).
