It is not the largest police division in Singapore in terms of land mass and the size of its human population.

But Clementi Police Division - named the Best Land Division this year, the seventh time it has won the title since 1996 - has one of the diverse operational terrains to deal with, compared to the other five police land divisions.

The areas it polices include Jurong Island, home to petroleum companies, and Sentosa, which gets more than 50,000 visitors daily.

Speaking to The New Paper on Friday, Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Melvin Yong said that because of the unique make-up of the areas, officers deal with a wide range of problems from petty crime, to protecting key installations from terrorism.
