THE man who "spoke" the longest at last night's rally was not Dr Tan Cheng Bock's supporter, a former patient or a resident of Ayer Rajah, where Dr Tan, 71, used to be MP.

While the other speakers - 13 in all - stood only during their turn at the rostrum, sign language instructor and coordinator Zack Tay (above) remained on his feet for 2 1/2 hours at the rally at Singapore Expo.

He agreed to help at the event after Dr Tan's daughter Ming Li, 40, got in touch with him through the Singapore Association for the Deaf.

The 34-year-old told The New Paper: "It's the first time I’m doing something like this."
