THE GIRLS saw him as their teacher - but he saw them as prostitutes.
An adult literacy teacher from Australia allegedly offered homeless girls a place to live then sold them for sexual intercourse for up to A$170 ($222) each time.
Stuff reported that Mark Ronald Glover, 53, was granted conditional bail in Sydney's Fairfield Local Court yesterday after being charged, among other offences, with aggravated sexual assault of a child under 16 years and causing two children - then aged 15 and 13 - to act as prostitutes between 2000 and 2004.
Police allege he advertised child prostitution services in the local newspaper and encouraged a girl, then 13, to reveal her real age to the men who raped her. He kept 40 per cent of the fees for himself.
Mr Glover also told the girl to record a voice message for callers responding to the ad, and he arranged for the men to meet her at cheap hotels. In the case of another girl, then aged 15, police claim the suspect sexually assaulted her and she was instructed to have sex with men.
"It should be noted that both complainants, in conjunction with their tender ages, were exceptionally vulnerable," police told the court.
"Both were homeless at the time of meeting the accused, who appears to seek out under-age girls … to procure them to participate in acts of prostitution."
Mr Glover denies all charges and claimed that he only knew of their involvement in prostitution as adults. He agreed to report to police every Saturday and offered $20,000 as security for his bail before he next appears in court on August 18.
