It was supposed to be something new and refreshing for the competition.

But the new RHB Singapore Cup draw system did not go down well with Home United head coach Lee Lim Saeng. The defending champions were pitched against S-League leaders Brunei DPMM at the draw at Bugis Junction yesterday.

This year's unorthodox draw system saw the 16 participating clubs, with the exception of the foreign teams -- Loyola Meralco Sparks FC from the Philippines, KBZ FC from Myanmar, Yotha FC from Laos, and Cambodia's Phnom Penh Crown FC -- send a player representative to juggle a ball for five minutes. The club's draw ranking was then determined by the duration the player juggled the ball, while the foreign clubs' rankings were randomly drawn from a bowl.

Home and Brunei DPMM were eliminated early in the juggling contest, and ended up being pitted against each other.
