We are now at the halfway mark of the hearing into the two major train disruptions last December.

The Committee of Inquiry (COI) hearing, which started on April 16 and is expected to last six weeks, has heard from SMRT train drivers, station managers, maintenance staff and commuters affected by the breakdowns.

Among the things revealed: Under-maintenance, for example of metal train wheels; and under-equipped systems, such as tunnel lighting that was not bright enough.

The New Paper summarises what has been revealed during the proceedings so far.
