Vendor arrested as he jostles for space

TENSIONS had been rising over the past three days.

The mad rush for spots at the Sungei Road Free Hawking Zone on Monday turned into shouting matches on Tuesday.

Yesterday, another altercation led to one regular - electronics goods vendor Tong Mun Cheong (pictured above) - calling the police.

However, Mr Tong himself ended up being arrested after he yelled at the officers who had arrived on the scene and threatened to beat them up.
