Time for a change – that’s a line often used by opposition parties at election rallies.
But in Hougang, it’s different.
On the final day of campaigning yesterday for the Hougang by-election, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong – who is also the People's Action Party's secretary-general – said in an e-mail that it was time for residents to vote for that change.
Meanwhile, speakers at the Workers' Party rally urged Hougang residents against change, with party chief Low Thia Khiang saying: “We have finally made progress after so many years and should not take a step backwards again."
