The much-anticipated Saving General Yang boasts a HK$200million (S$32.4million) budget and A-listers like Wu Chun, Vic Chou, Raymond Lam, Ekin Cheng, Adam Cheng and Xu Fan.
It also marks Hong Kong director Ronny Yu’s return to the big screen after his 2006 hit Fearless, starring Jet Li.
In an exclusive interview with The New Paper in Hong Kong, Yu said the film looks more like an American movie in terms of pacing and story-telling.
“Chinese movies love to talk and have the actors tell you about their emotions. But this film lets the audience feel for themselves,” he said.
