Three months after Associate Professor Tey Tsun Hang (above), 41, was arrested in April for allegedly having had sex with a fourth-year law student in exchange for giving her better grades, the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) law faculty has yet to conduct its own inquiry.
Now parents are asking why NUS has not had an internal inquiry, and also why he was not suspended while out on bail pending official investigations into the case.
Criminal lawyer Chia Boon Teck said that once a case has been reported to the authorities, it would be best for the institution to leave it to the authorities to investigate.
