PICTURE: Wee Keng Hor

HE COULDN'T get one of the best spots to photograph the fireworks on National Day by the time he reached Marina Bay.

So Mr Wee Keng Hor tried his luck at a spot no one would've wanted - under the reflecting pool of the ArtScience Museum.

And the gamble paid off after judges selected his shot from more than 100 entries as the one that captured how "A Nation Celebrates" - the theme for the August edition of The Big Picture, a weekly photography contest presented by The New Paper and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

Check out Mr Wee's winner and the remaining finalists from Week 1 of The Big Picture here.
