When the illegal foreign worker fell from a ladder and started bleeding from his mouth, his employer, Tay Kok Eng, could have called an ambulance. But he didn’t.

When Mr Chelladurai Lenin, who was from Chennai, India, vomited 20 minutes later, Tay could have called an ambulance too. But again, he didn't.

The employer had many chances throughout that day to take the injured man to hospital, but he left him to die by a roadside in Changi instead.

Yesterday, Tay, 56, pleaded guilty to three charges: Of employing the illegal foreign worker, failing to ensure a safe work method and depositing the dying Mr Chelladurai at the pavement.
