For the past two weeks Zulkiffli Hassim was on reservist duty as a driver in Taiwan.

But last night at Jurong East Stadium, he shed his army fatigues, donned the white and blue of Balestier Khalsa and drove his team to victory over Albirex Niigata.

While his goal and assist in the Tigers 2-1 win was a welcome return to civilian duties, a bit of the military colloquialism clearly still lingered as when The New Paper asked how he felt about his performance, he replied: “Shagged lah”.

The winger has only trained once in the past fortnight - the day before the Albirex game - but that didn't stop him from putting on his best performance of the season in front of a season best local crowd of 2,502.
