China's most expensive movie will star Jackie Chan and Adrien Brody

Jackie Chan's next film - touted as the most expensive Chinese-language film ever - has added Hollywood stars Adrien Brody and John Cusack to its cast.

Dragon Blade, a period action drama, is set to hit cinemas during the Chinese New Year period next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cusack, 47, will play Roman general Lucius, who led 1,000 men into China during the Han Dynasty, while Brody, 41, will play opposing general Tiberius, who chases after Lucius and his men with 100,000 soldiers.

Chan will play a Chinese commander who teams up with Lucius against Tiberius.

Chan, 60, said at the Shanghai International Film Festival recently: "I'm really excited to be in a movie with two of the most respected actors working today. It gives me confidence that the decade we spent researching and developing the script has produced something of a world-class standard.”

“It is a dream to finally work with Jackie. Aside from my longtime appreciation for his many talents, he is a beacon of generosity, and an inspiration to me,” added Brody. “Dragon Blade is a tale of mythical proportions -- of good prevailing over evil -- and an opportunity for me to explore a character whose ambition challenges his honor."
