Fans have guessed George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones ending
Some fans don’t know that they already know the epic conclusion of epic series A Song of Ice and Fire.
That's what author George R.R. Martin - whose series has been turned into the HBO show Game of Thrones - revealed at the Edinburgh International Literary Festival recently.
He said "one or two readers had put together the extremely subtle and obscure clues", reported Entertainment Weekly.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the last two novels in the series, which first debuted in 1996.
The final novels, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, do not have release dates yet.
What we know for sure is that Martin is not one to take conventional routes with regards to his plot. I mean, who saw The Red Wedding coming? You're lying if you say you did.
He said: "I hate predictable fiction as a reader, I don’t want to write predictable fiction. I want to surprise and delight my reader and take them in directions they didn’t see coming."
But he did say that he is sticking with his ending despite knowing some fans have guessed correctly.
He said: "I wrestled with that issue (of changing the ending), and I came to the conclusion that changing it would be a disaster, because the clues were there. You can’t do that, so I’m just going to go ahead."
Are you one of the fans who guessed the epic ending?
