Jackie Chan's son formally arrested for allowing drug abuse
Prosecutors in Beijing say police have formally arrested the son of Kung Fu star Jackie Chan on suspicion of allowing other people to take drugs in his house.
Star Tribune reported that "the approval from Chinese authorities was given today", according to an official Sina Weibo microblog site that authorities at Dongcheng District prosecutor's office updated.
Jaycee Chan, 31, has yet to be charged.
Three years maximum sentence
The maximum sentence is three years' imprisonment, according to the publication.
Jaycee Chan and Taiwanese actor Kai Ko, also known as Ko Chen-tung, was detained by Beijing police on Aug 14 on suspicion of drug abuse.
Both actors tested positive for marijuana and admitted using the drug, and 100g of it were seized from Chan's home.
Reuters reported that Chinese authorities have recently engaged in a series of high-profile crackdown on drugs that has ensnared a string of celebrities, as the government seeks to push forward a wider campaign against extravagance and decadence.
