Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson tie the knot

Jessica Simpson finally said "I do" to her fiancé of four years, Eric Johnson, on Saturday.

Witnessed by about 250 guests, Simpson exchanged wedding vows with the former NFL player in a strapless, champagne-coloured, gold-embroidered Carolina Herrera gown in a lavish ceremony in California, reported Los Angeles Times.

"We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment," the newlyweds said.

"To say 'I do' in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives."

"I can't wait to marry you!!! Best 4yrs of my life!!!" wrote Simpson in this Instagram post in May.

Famous faces in the audience included sister Ashlee Simpson with fiancé Evan Ross and Jessica Alba with her husband Cash Warren.

The couple's one-year-old son, Ace, served as a ring bearer and their daughter, Maxwell, two, walked down the aisle as a flower girl with Ashlee's five-year-old son, Bronx, as escort.

The children - Ace (left), one, and Maxwell, two, - had ceremonial duties at their parents' wedding last weekend.

Delayed wedding

Simpson, 33, and former NFL player Johnson, 34, were engaged in 2010 but had to delay the wedding twice because of their two children, reported People.

It was the second wedding for both newlyweds. In 2006, Jessica divorced 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, whom she had featured with in a reality TV series called Newlyweds.

The American singer and actress first rose to fame with her 1999 hit I Wanna Love You Forever.

Lately, she has starred in reality shows like The Price of Beauty and Fashion Stars. Her last album was in 2010.
