John Legend records song for Fifty Shades soundtrack in Philippines?
Everyone knew that US singer-songwriter John Legend has been around Asia over the last week few weeks.
He was in Singapore for a performance at the Singapore Grand Prix, then hopped over to Malaysia and Philippines for concerts.
A day before his show in the Philippines last Friday (Sept 26) at The Araneta Coliseum, the 35-year-old star headed to a studio in Mandaluyong, one of the municipalities in Metro Manila, to record a song.
It wasn't just any song, though. It was a track that is allegedly set to be a part of the movie adaptation of the bestselling novel by E. L. James, Fifty Shades of Grey, Yahoo Philippines reported.
Mr Boyet Aquino, a recording engineer at Spryta Productions, Inc., told the publication that the promoters of the show brought Legend to the studio.
Mr Aquino said: "He recorded a song which I guess is for the upcoming movie Fifty Shades of Grey because that's the name of the Pro Tools project file that came from him."
Added Mr Aquino: "He is one of the nicest guys I've worked with. He really knows his way in the studio.
"He knew what he wanted and more importantly, he knew when he had it. He did five or six takes, then listened to it one by one, he asked me to do a vocal comp (composition) from those takes that he chose."
Mr Aquino, who was star-struck, claims that he is still hungover from the memorable experience.
