Madonna finally shows up for jury duty but...
It doesn't matter that you're recognised as the best-selling female recording artist of all time by the Guinness World of Records, you still have to fulfil your civic duties.
Summoned to Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday (July 7) for jury duty, US singer-songwriter Madonna - in typical diva style - turned up wearing a black suit and black sunglasses with two male bodyguards and two female assistants.
She even tweeted about it.
Arriving about an hour late, the star was told by officials that she wasn't needed any more as they had enough potential jurors.
The mother-of-four had previously dodged jury duty with a doctor's note at the end of May, according to NY Daily News.
The Guardian reported David Bookstaver, a spokesperson for the court system, saying that "The greater good here is that her appearance really goes to show that everyone gets called...The intent here was not to create a distraction to other jurors or the business of the court …She got credit for her service and we're delighted she came."
